What’s New?

Many of us are freshly returned from a very successful NatSCA Conference, featuring over 20 speakers, trade stands and stores tours. We will be hearing more from them in the coming weeks. Watch this space on the 31st May! In the meantime you can catch up on their exploits by reading the Twitter stream.

In the meantime, I’ve been on a Tyrannosaurus pilgrimage across the Mid-West. I visited some that I can talk about and others that I can’t yet but all of it was very informative.

Not content with rocking the conference, Jack Ashby has been tearing it up at PubSci too, regaling us with tales from his new book. From cats that are killing Australia, to unrepresented penis worms – the talk was engaging and generated copious questions.

What Shall I Read?

If you’re looking for something to read right now, I recommend Steve Brusatte’s new book: The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs (not to be confused with another book with a similar name).

If you can wait until July, Katrina van Grouw’s Unnatural Selection is launching at PubSci on the 4th July. Katrina’s website has had a recent makeover to reflect the new publication and I encourage you to check it out. Darren Naish has written an excellent piece on the significance of the book here.

Where Shall I Go?

The Grant Museum of Zoology is the place to be on the 18th May: Murder most foul has struck and they need your help to solve it. Attendance is free but you must prebook here

Where Shall I Work?

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County are looking for a Preparator. You can find full details here. The deadline is June 8th.
